[[Hyper-capable]] is the adjective used to describe [[ship|ships]] which are able to travel through [[honorverse:hyperspace|hyperspace]], which allows them to travel interstellar distances at velocities that are effectively faster than the speed of light.

In the [[Royal Manticoran Navy]] (RMN), the [[Commanding Officer]] of a hyper-capable warship wears a white beret, distinguishing them from all other RMN personnel, who wear a black beret. Additionally, RMN officers wear a [[Hyper Command Star]] (aka "hyper-star") for each hyper-capable command they have held.

==Use in TRMN==
In {{trmn}}, (TRMN) the local [[chapter|chapters]] of the [[Royal Manticoran Navy]] are ships. The [[ship type]] that a chapter may portray depends on the number of members in the chapter, and the number of officers and their ranks.

The smallest chapters are non hyper-capable:

*[[Light Attack Craft]]

All chapters larger than the above two are classified as "hyper-capable." Based on the type of ship, there is a minimum number of members, which must include a minimum number of officers, and the [[Commanding Officer]] and [[Executive Officer]] must each qualify for a minimum rank.

The [[CO]] of a hyper-capable chapter is entitled to wear the white beret, and to wear a hyper-star for each hyper-capable ship they have commanded. Additionally, hyper-capable chapters may sponsor pinnaces up to a maximum number based on their size.
