==History==
''Bedivere'' was first brought into commission on 02 April 2012 under the command of then-[[LCDR]] Eric Schulman, by order of [[Bureau of Ships|BuShips]]<ref name="BSD120401">[[BuShips Directive 1204-01]]</ref>. This ship was the second ship ever to be commissioned in [[First Fleet]], based out of [[wikipedia:Washington, DC|Washington, DC]]. It was originally {{hmlac|Zwicky|LAC-003}} (LAC-003), named after [[wikipedia:Fritz Zwicky|Fritz Zwitcky]] an astronomer, but quickly got a few more members in half a month to become a destroyer. The ship probably only attended [[Shore Leave]] before it upgraded up to {{hms|Artegal|CL-493}} on 12 July 2012, and put into the [[Active Reserves]].

However, it didn't stay vacant for long. It was recommissioned on 04 September 2012<ref name="BSD120903">[[BuShips Directive 1209-03]]</ref>, under the command of then-[[LCDR]] Christopher Beilby, upgrading the HMLAC Grimalkin in [[wikipedia:Santa Ana, California|Santa Ana, California]] out in [[Tenth Fleet]]. The ship remained in place for almost two years before they were able to upgrade to {{hms|Merlin|CA-270}} on 19 July 2014.

''Bedivere'' was recommissioned on 23 December 2014<ref name="BSD141202">[[BuShips Directive 1412-02]]</ref>, when crew from {{hms|Tisiphone|CL-112}} broke away to form a chapter in [[wikipedia:Lincoln, Nebraska|Lincoln, Nebraska]]. [[CDR]] Matthew Parker took command of this ship in [[Sixth Fleet]], but it didn't stay long, as they quickly upgraded to {{hms|Aegis|CL-396}} by 25 March 2015.

It finally returned to familiar space on 28 November 2015<ref name="BSD151118">[[BuShips Directive 1511-18]]</ref>, recommissioned in [[Tenth Fleet]] just south of its previous mooring in [[wikipedia:San Diego, California|San Diego, California]]. [[LCDR]] Timothy Simpson took command of the new ship as it became part of [[Task Group 91.1]].

''Bedivere'' was returned to the Active Reserve Fleet on 18 June 2018, when her crew transferred to the recommissioned {{hms|Avalon|CL-395}}.
