''Avalon'' was first brought into commission on 01 January 2015 under the command of then-[[CDRE]] Dan Brandow, by order of [[Bureau of Ships|BuShips]]. They operated out of [[wikipedia:Santa Fe, New Mexico|Santa Fe, New Mexico]]. Eventually, the crew transferred to {{hms|Implacable|SD(P)-467}} on 20 November 2015, returning the ''Avalon'' to the Reserve Fleet. She was recommissioned on 30 September 2016 and relocated to [[Tenth Fleet]]. The ship has participated in multiple [[Fleet event|Fleet Events]], such as [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VCON VCon], and [http://www.orycon.org OryCon].
