''Mercy'' was commissioned on 24 January 2014 under the command of then [[LCDR]] Ian Tregale. The Mercy was originally assigned to patrol the South East of England, this was amended with the launch of {{gns|Paul of Tarsus|DD-56}} to be South England and East Anglia. The ship is a frequent attendee of [[EasterCon]] as well as conventions local to its patrol area. <br />

The ship was decommissioned on 30 November 2016 for failure of the command triad to complete their rank courses. This was recommissioned under then-[[CAPT]] [[Lord]] Martyn Griffiths, [[GSN]], on 7 December 2016 with all the old crew re-joining the ship.<br />

The ''Mercy'' was originally a part of [[DesDiv 413]] but was later moved to [[DesDiv 414]], which sits under [[DesRon 41]] as a part of 4th Fleet. <br />
