Midshipman

Midshipman, Midshipwoman, Midshipperson (abbrev: MID) is a billet within the Royal Manticoran Navy, the Grayson Space Navy, and the Republic of Haven Navy for those 16- or 17-year-old youth who enter the Midship/Cadet/Kadett/Intern Program.

Honorverse

In peacetime, a midshipman, midshipwoman, or midshipperson would be a student at the Saganami Island Academy, Isaiah Mackenzie Naval Academy, or the Imperial Prinz Adalbert Marineakademie. It is a four-year program, completed with a "middie cruise," where these officer candidates would actually take on the role of a junior officer. In times of emergency, Fleet Officer Candidate Schools and accelerated Academy programs can promote enlisted personnel to commissioned ranks.

TRMN

If a new member is under the age of 18, they are automatically enrolled in the Sphinx Forestry Service. Once they are 16 years old, they may choose to enter the Midship/Cadet/Kadett/Intern program under the provisions of the Board of Directors' Youth Policy HERE.
