Artillery Challenge (10 Pin Bowling Challenge)

Overview and Purpose

The Artillery Challenge is a competition in which the chapters of a fleet strive to attain the highest number of bowling pins knocked down during the three-month challenge period allotted by their fleet commander. These rules are based on previous challenges conducted by TRMN fleets in the past in an effort to standardize them for unified competition under the Black Sphinx Cup.

The chapter that has the highest number of knocked down bowling pins and correctly submits this information during the challenge period wins the Artillery Challenge.

Please note that this challenge is based on 10 pin bowling. If bowling alleys in your area of operation use a different format of bowling, please contact the 1SL staff Intelligence officer so that the challenge can be modified to fit your bowling format.

Artillery Challenge Rules

In order to be compliant with the Black Sphinx Cup, the fleet cup’s Artillery Challenge must adhere to the following rules:

  • For uniformity, all bowling must be conducted at a bowling alley
  • A minimum of two RMN members must be present for each bowling session
  • No “handicapping” of scores is allowed
  • All participants are allowed to use their own equipment
  • A photograph of each bowler’s score at the end of each session must be provided to the chapter liaison for verification

Winning the Artillery Challenge

The chapter that has the highest number of pins knocked down at the end of the challenge period wins. In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by determining which chapter had the most amount of bowling sessions.

Recording & Reporting the Artillery Challenge

Chapter liaisons are required to create a spreadsheet to record their chapter’s activities in the challenge. The spreadsheet must include:

  • A header with:
    • Chapter name
    • CO name and contact information
    • Chapter’s challenge liaison name and contact information
    • The most recent date updated
  • Numbered rows
  • Each row represents one bowling session
  • Each session row must include columns that list:
    • Session date and location
    • Member names and TRMN ID numbers
    • Total number of pins knocked down
  • A footer with the total number of pins knocked down at the end of the challenge
  • A footer with the total number of bowling sessions
