Re: Warrant Officer Project Policies and Procedures (BuTrain Order 034-16)

This order provides new policies and procedures for warrant officer projects. The documents listed below (and in the files section of this group) replace all warrant officer project information in the Student Manual V 2.0 (BuTrain -0001, February 2014) and apply to all warrant officer projects BuTrain-wide. These policies and procedures are to be used effective immediately.

The “BuTrain warrant officer project descriptions” file contains information for students and instructors on the types of warrant officer projects that can be completed. It includes a description of what each project is, what has to be submitted (using the form) for the proposal to be approved, and what has to be submitted for the final submission. You will notice the list is more detailed than before, even though it also includes an “other” category.

The “BuTrain warrant officer project proposal form” must be filled out by each student and sent to the instructor for approval. Using a form will help ensure students provide instructors with the right information for the projects to be approved. However, if a student provides an instructor the same information without the form that is fine, but they must provide all the information in the form. This proposal form is intended to ensure that proposals meet the requirements for warrant officer projects and provide information to help instructors grade submitted projects.

We hope that by providing this additional structure to warrant officer projects we will provide consistency across BuTrain for all students and instructors.
