While the above policies may seem unnecessarily cumbersome, they are revised here to prevent misunderstandings and miscommunication. The roles of Chapter Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, and Ship's Bosun are the three most important roles within our organization. The Bureau of Ships is charged with the responsibility of vetting and appointing these roles, and is further expected to safeguard them from any attempt to effect a bureaucratic coup d'etat using policies that previously assumed good faith intentions on those entrusted with Command.

Directive 1807-01.01 - Rescind/Replace BSD 1701-04

Directive 1807-01.02 - Commissionings and Recommissionings

Effective on this date, 01 July 2018, forms requesting the Commissioning or Recommissioning of any Vessel within the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Ships shall only be accepted from the prospective Commanding Officer.

Directive 1807-01.03 - Decommissionings

Effective on this date, 01 July 2018, forms requesting the Decommissioning of any Vessel within the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Ships shall only be accepted from the sitting Commanding Officer, and only with a record of a Crew Vote assenting to the action. If a Crew Vote is not possible due to extenuating circumstances, a Concurrent Endorsement of the First Space Lord, the affected Numbered Fleet Commanding Officer, the affected Numbered Fleet Deputy Commanding Officer, the affected Numbered Fleet Chief of Staff, or, if applicable, the affected Echelon Commanding Officer may be accepted. The sitting Commanding Officer may not act in any dual-role capacity (example: Division Commanding Officer and Chapter Commanding Officer). Forms not in compliance with the above will be rejected immediately as unauthorized.

Directive 1807-01.04 - Change of Command affecting the Commanding Officer

Effective on this date, 01 July 2018, forms requesting a Change of Command with impact to the position of Commanding Officer shall only be accepted from the outgoing Commanding Officer. Forms submitted from the sitting Executive Officer or the Ship's Bosun must have at least one written endorsement from the First Space Lord, the affected Numbered Fleet Commanding Officer, the affected Numbered Fleet Deputy Commanding Officer, or the affected Numbered Fleet Chief of Staff. Forms not in compliance with the above will be rejected immediately as unauthorized.

Directive 1807-01.05 - Change of Command affecting the Executive Officer or Ship's Bosun

Effective on this date, 01 July 2018, forms requesting a Change of Command with impact to the position of Executive Officer or Ship's Bosun may be accepted from the sitting Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, or Ship's Bosun. If the outgoing Triad Member did not originate the request him or herself, then they must have a timely and emailed copy of the request. Forms not in compliance with the above will be rejected immediately as unauthorized.

Directive 1807-01.06 - Unauthorized Activities May Be Remanded to JAG

The Bureau of Ships shall ensure proper acceptance parameters prior to execution of any requests. Forms found to be unauthorized as previously defined shall be questioned. The Third Space Lord shall determine whether BuShips' findings shall be prepared for remand to the Judge Advocate General for further investigation into any violations of TRMN policies.

Advisory 1807-01.07 - Why This Policy Exists and Why We Needed to Revise It

While the above policies may seem unnecessarily cumbersome, they are revised here to prevent misunderstandings and miscommunication. The roles of Chapter Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, and Ship's Bosun are the three most important roles within our organization. The Bureau of Ships is charged with the responsibility of vetting and appointing these roles, and is further expected to safeguard them from any attempt to effect a bureaucratic coup d'etat using policies that previously assumed good faith intentions on those entrusted with Command.

BuShips wishes to ensure beyond all doubt that the principles involved in Chapter Command, whether current or prospective, are fully aware of their investments, and that in those cases where a chapter may suffer from any length of harmful absenteeism, that the Chain of Command from the First Space Lord down are aware and have the opportunity to request intervention from BuShips.

Questions or clarifications requested regarding this policy may be addressed to buships@trmn.org.

In Service to Her Majesty, the Sovereign Queen of the Star Kingdom of Manticore, Elizabeth III,

Issued by:
