Re: Royal Unit Citation for Gallantry - HMS Barbarossa (DD-551) (BuShips Directive 1702-11)

The Third Space Lord takes pleasure in presenting the ROYAL UNIT CITATION FOR GALLANTRY to the Sixth Fleet's HMS Barbarossa (DD-551), CDR Sir Steven Rosenthal, PMV, KDE, QBM, commanding, for service to the Navy as described in this citation:

"For Distinguishing herself with Exceptional Gallantry in the calendar year of 2016 while serving with the Sixth Fleet. During this period, HMS Barbarossa (DD-551) participated in support of several conventions, both inside and outside of their Area of Operations, ran highly successful recruiting and social events both alone and in conjunction with other RMN and foreign service units within and without her Fleet. In upholding the ideals of the service-minded organization, Barbarossa immediately and selflessly led efforts to fundraise nearly $1,300 toward one of their own crewmembers during a serious medical emergency leading to long-term hospitalization; the funds went to offset the mounting transportation expenses of family members who faced severe hardship, so they could lend direct assistance to said crewmember. She raised nearly 350 pounds of canned food and dry store items for donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank. In addition to their efforts in behalf of our organization, several members of her crew assist and serve at the fleet and international levels with distinction and high recommendations from their superiors. By their meritorious professionalism, sacrifice, and inspirational devotion to duty, HMS Barbarossa reflects great credit upon herself, the Sixth Fleet, and the Royal Manticoran Navy."

All personnel attached to and serving aboard HMS Barbarossa (DD-551) during the above-designated period, or any part thereof, are hereby authorized to wear the ROYAL UNIT CITATION FOR GALLANTRY ribbon.

In Service to Her Majesty, the Sovereign Queen of the Star Kingdom of Manticore, Elizabeth III,

Issued by:
Sir Michael D. Garcia, KDE, OC, SC, CGM, GS
