Re: Service Awards - Updated (Admiralty Order 1006-06)

The following Admiralty Order details the Service Awards of the Royal Manticoran Navy. These shall be effective 01-Jun-2010.

Award Name (by precedence) Issued by Frequency Issued For Groups
Navy Commendation Decoration Unit leaders down to Ship or Company As needed; once per member, per command level, per year This award is a way to recognize a member of your unit, down to the Ship/Company Level, for meritorious service to the unit. This can be anything that makes the member stand out, although taking courses through the Academy is expressly prohibited as a basis for this award. As this award is designed to show that the recipient works hard and performs their duties to a level of excellence, Civilians serving onboard ship in any well defined role are also eligible. RMN, GSN
List of Honor Citation Third Space Lord Once per ship, per year This award is granted to a ship which has gone above and beyond as a whole unit to achieve a special goal. Raising a large sum of money for charity, collecting a large number of toys for Toys-For-Tots, fielding a team of walkers for a cancer walk would all be good examples. When a warship’s distinctions get its name added to the List of Honor, all crew members who served in the action that achieved this distinction get this citation. It is worn on the right hand side of the uniform. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN
Royal Unit Citation for Gallantry Unit Commander (Squadron/Battalion and up) Once per unit level per year
(This is the Naval Meritorious Unit Award for the GSN Personnel.)
This citation is awarded to one Unit in each group for performance above and beyond as compared to the other Units in that group. As an example, a Squadron Commander can award this to one of the ships under their command. A Task Group Commander can then single out a Squadron for this Award. This would work the same way with the RMMC where a Battalion Commander can give this to one of his MSGs, and a Regimental Commander to one of his Battalions. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN
Fleet Excellence Award Second Space Lord/RMMC Forces Command/RMA Forces Command Once per year This Award is issued once per year to the Fleet which most demonstrates their excellence compared to the other Fleets. A Fleet can be as large as a full Fleet or as small as a Squadron. This is awarded based on the efforts of the entire Fleet and not just the efforts of one person. An example would be, everyone in the Fleet completing all the classes at Saganami Island. Just one person alone completing them would not qualify. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN
Prisoner of War Medal Fleet/Expeditionary Force Commanders Once per Year Maximum; Ten Issuance Maximum This Medal is given to those who dedicate time to another organization. It is given to members of The Royal Manticoran Navy for participation in events with other Science Fiction oriented fan organizations, to include groups such as Maquis Forces International, STARFLEET International, Colonial Defense Forces, etc. If the RMN Member is also a member of the other organization, they *must* wear a distinctive RMN item (RMN Patch, RMN Awards, RMN Rank) with their other uniform to qualify as a “Prisoner of War”. Showing up to a meeting in your CDF uniform with your RMN Ship Patch would qualify. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN, IAN, RHN, Civilian
Silesian Anti-Piracy Campaign Medal Unit Commander (Squadron/Battalion and up) Once per Year Maximum; Ten Issuance Maximum This award is given to Members who have undertaken extreme or lengthy travel on behalf of the TRMN. The two important criteria are “extreme or lengthy” and “on behalf of the TRMN.” The former requires a judgment call by the Unit Commander. A possible standard might be 5 hours travel time, for example. The latter is more exact: Taking a long road trip to attend a convention with the other members of your chapter, for example, does not qualify. Doing so because you are going to be presenting a class , a demonstration or manning a recruiting table would qualify. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN, IAN, RHN, Civilian
Grayson-Masada War Campaign Medal None None This Award is currently Pending future expansion GSN
Second Grayson-Masada War Campaign Medal None None This Award is currently Pending future expansion GSN
Masadan Occupation Medal Unit Commander (Squadron/Battalion and up) Once per Year Maximum; Ten Issuance Maximum This award is given to Members for participation on behalf of The Royal Manticoran Navy at a function of another fan organization, such as the annual STARFLEET International Conference or a Regional Summit. The key word here is participation, not attendance. The Member must have done more than simply attend (i.e., served on a panel, worked on the Security detail, etc.) Likewise, the Member must have attended in their TRMN persona for the entire time. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN, IAN, RHN, Civilian
Havenite War Campaign Medal Unit Commander (Ship/MSG/AOG and up) Once per Year Maximum; Ten Issuance Maximum This award is offered to those members who participate at a function of The Royal Manticoran Navy, such as the annual meeting at Shore Leave. The key word here is participation, not attendance. The Member must have done more than simply attend (i.e., served on a panel, worked on the Security detail, etc.) RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN
King Roger III Coronation Medal None None This Award is currently Pending future expansion None
Queen Elizabeth III Coronation Medal None None This Award is currently Pending future expansion None
Manticoran Combat Action Medal None None This Award is currently Pending future expansion None
Manticoran Service Medal Fifth Space Lord Once every Ten Years
(This is the Grayson Space Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal for the GSN Personnel.)

Manticoran Reserve Service Medal Fifth Space Lord Once after Five Years
(This is the Grayson Space Navy Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal for the GSN Personnel.)
This is awarded upon completion of your fifth year of service with The Royal Manticoran Navy. The Service must not be consecutive, but must be for active years only. This can only be awarded to current members RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN, IAN, RHN, Civilian
Good Conduct Medal Fifth Space Lord Once every Five Years This award is given for five consecutive years of membership in good standing as a member of either the RMN, RMMC, RMA or GSN. Once the award is issued, the five-year clock resets. In other words, a member who joined 2010 will receive a GCM for the period 2010 to 2015. He will receive his next one in 2020. He may not request one in 2016 for the period 2011 to 2016, because the clock “reset” in 2015. A check of the members personnel file to ensure no offenses or misconduct will be conducted before issuance. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN
Space Services Deployment Ribbon Fifth and Sixth Space Lords Once per member Maximum This award is granted after your initial assignment to a Unit *and* your graduation from your first Saganami Island Course. There is no subsequent issuance of this award as it can only be awarded once. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN, IAN, RHN, Civilian
Grayson Space Navy Recruit Training Ribbon Sixth Space Lord Once per member Maximum This award is issued upon successfully completing the Basic Enlisted Course at Saganami Island Academy, and for having served as an Instructor at the Saganami Island Academy for at least six months. Non-Commissioned Officers Senior Course Ribbon Sixth Space Lord Once per member Maximum This award is issued for having successfully completed the Senior Chief Petty Officer Course and the Master Chief Petty Officer Course at Saganami Island Academy and for continuing to serve as a Non-Commissioned Officer. This award is only issued once both criteria are met and is only issued once. RMN, RMMC, RMA, GSN, IAN, RHN, Civilian
