The Award for Valor (abbrev. AV) is the "Second Lowest Gallantry" award issued to qualifying civilian Diplomatic Corps and Special Intelligence Service personnel with paygrades of C-11 or higher..

Civilian personnel with paygrades up to C-10 are awarded the Superior Honor Award.

The AV was introduced as an award in Admiralty Order 1703-02.
